Michael Sanow, MA (Northwestern), PhD (Ohio State University)

Michael L. Sanow received his A.B. in History from the University of Rochester, his M.A. in Sociology from Northeastern University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The Ohio State University. He is a Professor at The Community College of Baltimore County and his taught a variety of sociology courses there since 1993. He primarily teaches three courses: “Racial and Cultural Minorities,” “The Holocaust and Global Racism” and “Engagement in Communities.” Over the years, he has led several student study courses to Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. Since 1996, he has coordinated the Service Learning program on the CCBC, Catonsville Campus and has developed and led a CCBC faculty Service Learning Institute for the several years.

Elizabeth A. Lawrence, JD (University of Baltimore), LLM

Elizabeth Anu Lawrence Esq. is the Managing Attorney of the Law Office of Elizabeth Anu Lawrence LLC located in Baltimore, Maryland. Elizabeth earned her Juris Doctor and LL.M at the University Of Baltimore School Of Law where she served as a Staff Editor for the Intellectual Property Journal. She also earned a LL.B from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

She is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Baltimore City Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association and District of Columbia Bar Association.

She has vast experience working as an immigration attorney and international business attorney in Maryland and Washington, DC respectively. Her areas of practice include immigration and naturalization law, criminal defense, family law, personal injury, representing small businesses and International business transactions.
Attorney Lawrence is also a certified mediator.

She has a passion for advocating and representing the rights of minorities, immigrants and the less privilege.

Olatunji Ojo, MA (Ibadan) PhD (York University)

OOlatunji Ojo (MA, Ibadan; Ph.D., York University) teaches African History at Brock, including African History survey and seminars on slavery, economic and women history. Prior to joining Brock University, he taught at the University of Ibadan (Nigeria), Ohio University, Athens and Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. His research interests, which include slavery, ethnicity and identity formation, religion and gender, center on the history of social and economic change. His recent publications include “ Èmú (Àmúyá): The Yoruba Institution of Panyarring or Seizure for Debt,” African Economic History 35 (2007) : 31-62; “The Organization of the Atlantic Slave Trade in Yorubaland, 1777 to 1856,” International Journal of African Historical Studies 48.1 (2008): 77-100 and “Beyond Diversity: Women, Scarification, and Yoruba Identity,” History in Africa 35 (2008).

Doyin Famodu, BS (Huntsville) MBA (Morgan State)

Doyin Famodu is the President and Chief executive officer of Korak Healthsource Group, Inc. He has over 25 years of experience in all facets of healthcare operations ranging from claims administration, customer service, credentialing, provider network build-out, staff training and skill development, health information initiatives, auditing, compliance and regulations initiatives, project management and consulting for all segments of healthcare industry such as HMOs, PPOs, TPAs ,ASOs, IPAs, Medicare and Medicaid.

He started his career as a Claims Examiner, with Claims Administration Corporation, a division of CNA Insurance Company in 1988 becoming a top Level 3 examiner within 6 months. He is also the founder of Atheon Consulting Ltd, a consulting and advisory company in healthcare sector. He currently consults for United Healthcare International; a premiere Nigeria’s NHIS accredited HMO.

‘Doyin graduated with BSC Accounting at Oakwood College, Huntsville, Alabama, and did graduate work in Management at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. He holds the professional designations of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC) from American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. He is a Christian and married with children. He serves on the Board of several ministries and NGOs in the US.

Sesan Kuforiji, BS (Port Harcourt) MSW (Maryland), LCSW-C, President, Hebron House Inc.

Sesan Kuforiji is a licensed certified clinical social worker (LCSW-C) specializing in clinical psychotherapy and counseling for families and children. He took his undergraduate degree from the University of Port Harcourt and the Master’s of Social Work from the University of Maryland, one of the topmost schools of Social Work Schools in the United States.

He serves as a mentor and leadership coach and is a board member of several NGOs. He is the President/Executive Director of Hebron House LLC and the Lead Pastor of Christ Villa, a vibrant Community Church in Timoniun, Maryland.

Bode Ayodele, PhD, MPH (Indiana State); MSc (Ibadan)

Dr. Ayodele has been a faculty in universities in Nigeria and the United States. He was originally a Botanist before taking an interest in Public Health where he is emerging as a major intellectual force. He is a published author and serves in different capacities in the organized private sector.

Genevieve E. Dibua, PhD, University of Maryland, Baltimore County

Professor Dibua earned her degrees from Nigeria and the United States and teaches college-level ESOL (English as a Second Language Program).

Trude Cook-Turner, PhD, Arizona State University

An Associate Professor of Psychology, Trude was the coordinator of closing the gap initiative in the largest provider of higher education in the state of Maryland, the Community College of Baltimore County. This initiative monitored students’ progress and facilitated faculty-driven student learning goals and assessment. Before this, she worked in different capacities in students’ recruitment, enrolment and retention. She was the Assistant Dean of Multicultural Affairs and Director of Multicultural Scholarship Programs at the Providence College in Rhode Island. She was also an Assistant Dean of Student Services in Illinois and served as the Placement Director in the College of Law of the Arizona State University. She was the Admission Officer at Macalester College in St Paul’s, Minnesota.

Natasha Miiller, PhD, (Penn State)

Dr. Miller had her undergraduate education at the City University of New York (CUNY) where she earned her BS in Psychology. She obtained her MS and PhD at Penn State and thereafter had broad experience in university teaching and administration. Currently, she is the Director of Assessment at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Adekunle Obisesan, MBBS (Ilorin), MD (Harbor, Maryland), MPH (John Hopkins)

Specializing in the field of internal medicine, Dr. Obisesan had his medical training in University of Ilorin College of Health Sciences and the John Hopkins University. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Harbor Center in Baltimore where he was the Chief Resident. He currently functions in both clinical and senior administrative Capacities in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He serves the community in different volunteer positions and is a trustee of different NGO Boards.

Funmi F OLÚBỌ̀DÉ-SÀWẸ̀ PhD, AAU; MA, BA, Ilorin

Dr. Olubode Sawe teaches English Language and Linguistics at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. An accomplished educator with several years of practical experience, she earned her PhD in Linguistics at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Nigeria 2010. Before this, she got her BA and M.A in English Language,University of Ilorin, Nigeria

Olumide Kumolalo, PhD (Morgan State) MSW, (Maryland) MA (Ibadan) LGSW

Kumolalo received his BA in History from the State University in Ado Ekiti and took an MA in African History from the University of Ibadan. A keen student of leadership and an incurable optimist about Africa and its diaspora, he took additional graduate degrees from Morgan State University and the University of Maryland @ Baltimore. For his PhD, he specialized in the African Diaspora and Contemporary US History. As a college professor, he taught at the University of Ado Ekiti, the University of Maryland in Baltimore County (UMBC), Morgan State University and the Community College of Baltimore County and had the privilege of teaching/mentoring students from more than thirty countries in Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. His research interests include Leadership, Social Institutions in the (re)making of identity and mass agency in shaping the trajectory of history. His latest publications include “The Anglo-West Africa Press and the Civil Rights Movement During the Eisenhower Administration” Journal of the Historical Society of Nigeria’ December, 2012.

He has served in various positions of leadership both in Nigeria and the United States including the board of corporations and non-profits. In 2007 he was cited by the Governor of the State of Maryland for great service to the citizens of the state. He is also the Executive Director of the Global Peak Education Corporation.
